With a school motto of Consideration Always underpinning everything we do, the students’ mental wellbeing is probably the most important aspect of life at Sion. We focus on excellent teaching, supported by thoughtful, holistic pastoral care.
We have a designated Pastoral Care Team in place. The Assistant Head (Pastoral), following the recent Government Green Paper regarding mental wellbeing in schools, has completed the School Mental Health Leader Certificate which also saw an audit of our mental health provision. This team also works closely with the Learning Support Department and we also have a visiting Wellbeing Advisor.
Our recently implemented Wellbeing Programme initiative has built on our established pastoral care provision and oversees all aspects of the mental and physical wellbeing of the students.
This programme has been developed for the whole school (EYFS to Sixth Form) with age-appropriate sessions. The support is provided through Individual Wellbeing Advice sessions, and through a variety of timetabled Wellbeing Workshops.
In 2018, Our Lady of Sion won an ISA (Independent Schools Association) Award for Excellence and Innovation in Mental Health and Wellbeing.
