Our Lady of Sion School is proud to announce the appointment of Mrs Emily Hill as its new Headteacher from September 2026, marking the beginning of an exciting new era for the school and independent education in Worthing.

Mrs Hill will join the school community during the summer term, building relationships with pupils, staff, and families ahead of officially taking up her role. Her arrival signals not just new leadership, but a renewed sense of purpose, ambition, and momentum for Sion’s future.

Currently Deputy Head at Bethany School in Kent, Mrs Hill brings a wealth of experience from one of the South East’s leading independent schools. Her career spans senior leadership roles including Assistant Headteacher at Cape Cornwall School, alongside earlier positions as Head of English and whole-school Literacy Coordinator. She is also an experienced ISI inspector and dedicated primary school governor.

Throughout a highly competitive selection process, Mrs Hill stood out for her vision, energy, and commitment to excellence. She shares Sion’s belief in educating the whole child, academically, socially, and emotionally, and brings a clear determination to build on the school’s strong foundations while shaping a bold and sustainable future.

Her appointment comes at a pivotal moment for the independent sector. With clarity and confidence, Mrs Hill is eager to work with governors and the wider school community to reimagine and strengthen Sion’s offering, ensuring it remains both aspirational and accessible for generations to come.

Speaking about her appointment, Mrs Hill said:

“Our Lady of Sion already offers something truly special, a nurturing environment where young people grow in confidence and character. I am incredibly excited to build on this, to champion the school more widely, and to help shape a vibrant, forward-looking future for every pupil.”

This moment also provides an opportunity to thank outgoing Headteacher Steve Jeffery for his 11 years of dedicated leadership. His stewardship has positioned the school strongly, creating the platform for this next phase of growth and transformation.
