Sion School enjoyed another year of exceptional GCSE results, continuing its tradition of academic excellence and student achievement. The 2025 results place SION significantly above both national and county averages, showcasing the school’s commitment to nurturing high performance and personal growth.
Exceptional GCSE Performance Across the Board
In 2025, 94% of students achieved grades 9–4, marking a 3.6% increase from 2024. Even more impressively, 48.6% of students earned top grades (9–7) – more than double the national average of 23%.
Gender Breakdown:
- Boys: 93.4% at 9–4 (+7.5%), 46.2% at 9–7 (+16.1%)
- Girls: 94.6% at 9–4 (–1.5%), 51.1% at 9–7 (+5.6%)
National and County Averages:
- National averages: 70.5% (9-4), 23% (9-7)
- West Sussex averages: 72.2% (9-4), 20.9% (9-7)
Value Added (VA) Score: Progress Beyond Expectations
Sion’s internally calculated Value Added (VA) score stands at +1, where +1 represents a full grade of progress beyond expectations. In addition, 1 in 6 Sion School students achieved an average VA score of at least +2 – 2 grades higher than their baselines.

Our value-added score shows that students are making progress well beyond expectations, particularly in subjects such as English Literature and English Language”
