Dance at Our Lady of Sion is an exciting and challenging area of the curriculum, offering students the opportunity to develop as a creative, sensitive and confident individual. Whilst not only promoting fitness and well-being, dance also encourages personal relationships and the development of an interest in dance and the performing arts as a passion, which will hopefully remain for life.
At Sion, we encourage students to engage with contemporary dance, experiencing new ways of moving and working both independently and within groups. The Sion Dance Club has further developed performance skills and many dancers from all year groups perform throughout the year at Sound and Vision, the Carol Service and the Spring Concert. The GCSE Dance curriculum is broad and balanced, placing the individual student at the heart of the learning process. Students are encouraged to develop their understanding of professional dance works, their own performance technique and their choreographic skills. We follow the AQA GCSE Dance 8236 Exam Syllabus.
