There was much excitement at the Junior School at Our Lady of Sion when a little fish was found on the playground after it had been dropped by a passing seagull.

Quickly rescued by the pupils, Piccolo (as the fish was named by the children) happily spent the morning swimming in some water. When the Year 1 children had their Beach School session later in the day, they were able to return the fish to the sea. They waved goodbye and thanked him for visiting them!

On the back of this event, Mrs Pearson, Assistant Head, Head of the Junior School, has launched a creative writing competition for the children: How did Piccolo land in the playground? What will his next adventure be? “The Junior School love the creativity that being so close to the beach brings to the curriculum. This is the perfect event to spark their imagination – I am very much looking forward to seeing the entries!”
