Four pupils from Our Lady of Sion Junior School have recently been invited to join the Worthing Dementia Friends Steering Group.

Kyle Clapton, Daisy Cutting, Poppy Simmonds and Roman Young have recently been chosen as Junior School Councillors and one of their roles will be to drive community projects such as this one, alongside the school’s ongoing Intergenerational Project with St Mary’s Care Home.

Mrs Tamara Pearson, Assistant Head and Head of the Junior School said, ‘As a Dementia Friendly-trained school, we are enormously proud and excited about being actively involved in the important work of this charity. Giving our young Sionians real-world and meaningful opportunities is at the heart of what we do.’

The children are very excited that they are the first to take an active role in the Steering Group. They will be supporting the local Coordinator and helping to set a direction for Worthing to become more Dementia Friendly with a variety of initiatives, such as the recent Christmas activity packs for which the Junior School created Christmas Cards.
