During the summer, the children from the Nursery at Our Lady of Sion received a message from their neighbours at St Mary’s Care Home. Before Lockdown, the residents had been regularly visited by the children and now they were missing seeing them!

There has been a stream of correspondence between the two groups with the childre  n (some of whom have now moved into Reception) sending pictures and letters. This lovely relationship has continued even during lockdown!

Tamara Pearson, Assistant Head, Head of the Junior School commented, “At Sion, even our youngest pupils are introduced to our ethos with our motto ‘Consideration Always’ and take part in the Intergenerational Project which is part of our Community Outreach Programme. Our Nursery children have gained so much from their visits to St Mary’s and have loved sharing their stories and experiences. We very much look forward to continuing with these visits as soon as we are able.”
