Our Lady of Sion students from Years 5 – 9, along with visitors from other local schools, were delighted to welcome adventurer and explorer Charlie Walker who came to the school to talk to them about his travels.

Charlie spoke to them about his longest expedition which was a 43,000-mile bicycle journey reaching the furthest cape in each of Europe, Asia and Africa before returning home. On this journey he traversed 60 countries, encountering extremes of weather, remoteness and physical exhaustion during the four and a half years he was away.

Dr Simon Orchard, Headmaster, commented: “We have welcomed Charlie to Sion previously and were keen to share the opportunity to listen to such a motivational speaker with other students. All the students in the room were captivated by his presentation as he took them through his journey, speaking of determination and his passion for adventure, describing his feelings and motivations – and possibly inspiring a few future adventurers along the way!”
