The children from Our Lady of Sion have been taking part in a Junior School Inter-generational Project with neighbouring St Mary’s Care Home. Each week children from Nursery-Year 6 are visiting the residents. The children were asked to share work, stories and interests by means of introducing themselves and as a way to get to know their new friends.

St Mary’s staff have commented that they are already seeing a huge positive impact on their residents as a result of our weekly visits. ‘One of our residents hardly spoke when she joined us, but her family have noticed a huge change since the children started visiting’.

Mrs Pearson states ‘Everyone benefits from the experience. As school community, we are certainly seeing the very best come from the children- we could not be more proud. At Sion, our school ethos of ‘Consideration Always’ is lived, not laminated’.
