Following on from the success of last year’s GCSE results, our 2018 cohort have again exceeded our expectations by achieving a further significant rise in the top grades awarded. With the majority of GCSEs now reformed, over 50% of grades awarded were 9-7 (A*/A) compared to 44% in 2017. All students obtained at least 5 grades at 9-5 with one third of students achieving over 5 GCSEs graded 9-7 and over 11% of all GCSEs were graded 9.

Staff and students have had to overcome the challenges of the removal of controlled assessments, new specifications and linear examinations in achieving these fantastic results. Students who deserve particular praise include Anthony Leong achieved 9 grades in all his subjects, one of just a few hundred nationally. Isobel Gee obtained either a 9 or A* grade for 10 out of her 11 subjects.

Dr Orchard, Headmaster, said: “I am delighted with our GCSE results this year, particularly in Triple Science and Mathematics where 83% and 63% respectively of grades were 9-7. The whole school body has worked collectively to support our young people in achieving these grades through excellent teaching and supporting their emotional wellbeing. They have all truly embraced our school motto of ‘Consideration Always’ in supporting each other and I look forward to seeing their potential develop further.”

The majority of the year group will continue into the Sixth Form having achieved the required entry grades.
