When Sir Peter Bottomley MP visited Our Lady of Sion as part of UK Parliament Week, he was also keen to meet one of the Senior School pupils. Blaise has recently been shortlisted for the Final of the Youth Grand Challenges competition. This is a national British Science Association STEM competition which is supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, setting young people the task of using innovative science and technology solutions to tackle global health and development issues.
Blaise’s project entitled ‘Quicker, more efficient diagnosis method for hepatitis’ has made it to the final shortlist of 40 projects of this national competition. For the final she has also produced a video to show how her project helps to tackle the Global Grand Challenges and the problems facing global health. This is an amazing achievement for this 14 year old and she is very much looking forward to the final. We wish her every success!
