Years 7,8 and 9 - Key Stage 3
Years 7, 8 and 9 are for pupils aged 11 to 14
years. The majority of our Junior School
pupils transfer into Year 7 of the Senior School
at Gratwicke Road and are joined by many pupils
from other schools. However, students
may start at the school at any time during these
years, subject to the entrance
criteria and available
space at the time.
Pupils join one of three mixed ability form groups,
based on their house allocation. A class
size averages 18 pupils, and specialist teachers
deliver all lessons. As well as formal lessons, trips and visiting speakers are an important part
of our balanced and extensive study programme.
Homework is set and is an important element of
the curriculum.
Each term, parents will either receive a full
written report in each subject, or a grade sheet.
Parents’ Evenings
are also held regularly; Year 7 – October
and April, Year 8 – December, Year 9 – November
and February (GCSE options). Year 9 pupils
and their parents are offered advice
and guidance on choosing the correct subjects for
GCSE study.
