Years 3 to 6 - Key Stage 2
Years 3 to 6 are for children aged 7 to 11
years. The extensive facilities
of the Senior School in Gratwicke Road are used
frequently by this age group, particularly the
fully equipped science laboratories, tennis and
netball courts and the gymnasium. The Junior
School building was originally a large house and
it has been extended and adapted to meet the school’s
requirements. It has not lost its welcoming
feel however, which contributes to the happy atmosphere,
and is central to the character of the school.
The well-qualified
and experienced class teachers deliver the majority
of lessons, with specialist staff
taking French, Music and PE lessons. Swimming
lessons are given at the local
pool. After
school clubs are very popular and include
include Art, Choir, Cricket, Football,
Netball, RSPCA, Tag Rugby and Tennis. Pupils
regularly take part in a variety of sports fixtures
and tournaments.
As well as formal lessons, trips and visitors are
an important part of our balanced and extensive
curriculum. Pupils in Years 5 and 6 are able
to take part in a residential Adventure Course
in the summer term, with activities such as climbing,
abseiling and water sports. All Year 6 pupils are offered the opportunity for
Cycling Proficiency training and a team competes
in the annual Road Safety Quiz organised by West
Sussex County Council.
School uniform must be worn. Hot lunches
are available, charged on a termly basis. After
school supervision is available at no extra charge.
