Years 10 and 11 - Key Stage 4
Years 10 and 11 are for pupils aged 14 to 16 years,
following GCSE courses.
Pupils remain in their mixed ability form groups,
based on house allocation but are divided depending
on subject choices. The class size averages
16 pupils, and specialist teachers deliver all
lessons. As well as formal lessons, trips
and visiting speakers are an important part of
our balanced and extensive study programme. Homework
is an important element of the curriculum.
Each term, parents will receive either a full
written report in each subject, or a grade sheet
in each subject. Parents’ Evenings are also
held regularly: Year 10 in November and Year 11
in October, with a Sixth Form Information Evening
being held in November. Throughout the year,
Year 11 pupils follow a structured course in Careers
Education and Guidance and they, together with
their parents, are offered extensive advice and
guidance on the options available at 16.
