A Special Invitation

On Friday, 18th May, a group of five musicians selected from Years 10 and 7 attended Worthing Town Hall for the Mayor-Making Ceremony.  The new Mayor, Councillor Charles James, together with his wife, an ex-Sionian, approached Mr Scullion earlier in the year to enquire if our students could provide some background music for the reception following the ceremony. Mrs Whitchurch selected flautists Victoria and Anna, classical guitarist Gabriel and violinist Maisie, all from Year 10, together with Ben, a talented young violinist from Year 7, to take part. The music fitted the occasion perfectly; the students played superbly and were thanked many times for their contribution – even being invited to perform a follow-up gig! They had photos taken with the Mayor in his splendid robes and chain and proved themselves excellent ambassadors for the School.
