Physical Education at Our Lady of Sion School encourages a sense of fair play, sportsmanship and consideration, along with a positive attitude towards health and fitness.

Our PE Department plays a very active part of Our Lady of Sion School. As well as their compulsory PE lessons, students have the opportunity to participate in lots of sports activities, teams and after-school clubs.

All students in the School have PE lessons as part of their regular weekly activities; Years 7, 8 and 9 students have four periods per week; Years 10 and 11 have three periods a week, and the Sixth Form have one afternoon per week. Some activities take place off-site using local facilities such as Worthing Rugby Club, Worthing Leisure Centre and Splashpoint.

We follow the OCR syllabus for both GCSE and A level.

Sports offered to pupils are: athletics, badminton, basketball, cricket, dance, fitness, football, gymnastics, hockey, netball, rounders, rugby, softball, swimming, tennis, and volleyball; pupils will have the opportunity to take part in all these sports at some stage in their school career. Other activities, such as outdoor pursuits, handball and ultimate frisbee are offered as part of the School’s enrichment programme. The School holds a Sports Day, at the local sports’ centre, each summer. GCSE, AS and A level Physical Education can be taken, as can GCSE Dance.
