Year 6 enjoyed a whole day devoted to the Egyptians at the end of the Autumn term. They had been studying the Egyptians in their History lessons, and used the knowledge they had gained to make Egyptian costumes and to provide food for an Egyptian feast.
The day began with an interactive performance of 'Moses' by the Rainbow Theatre Company, in which all the pupils had roles to play. After the perfomance, the children had their Egyptian feast, in which they enjoyed Egyptian recipe bread, dipped in honey and lots of different kinds of fruit. Below are quotes from some of the pupils about the day;
Moses
Megan
- Wow - what a day! The Rainbow Theatre came to do an Egyptian day. We told the story of Moses by acting out parts; I was a scribe with two of my friends.
Harry - My favourite part was playing Moses brother Aaron. I got to shout at the Pharaoh; ‘Let our people go!' His reply was always; ‘No, I will not let your people go!'
Amie - My favourite actor was the Pharaoh because he had a powerful voice and he could change character in a split second
Madeleine - It was great fun when the Rainbow Theatre came to act out Moses because we all had a part in the story to act out.
Feast
Isla
- I tried a dried fig for the first time, and I hated it, but I did enjoy the honeycomb!
Molly - I enjoyed the food especially the Egyptian bread.
Lucy - The feast was good, there were all kinds of fruit and I tried a fig. it was horrible!
Jake - The feast was amazing. I tried a fig for the first time and I loved it! I think everyone had made a great effort making their costumes.
