Reunion 2010
Our Lady of Sion Past Pupils Reunion 2010
About 40 past pupils, and two of the Sisters of Sion, gathered in the school hall at Our Lady of Sion one Sunday in September to reminisce about their time at the school. All of them had a wonderful time looking at the old photos and catching up with each other about their memories. Several pupils form the school's current sixth-form also attended, and took past pupils on tours of the school. The sixth formers ere amazed to hear what the school had been like in the past, when it was a girls' convent boarding school, and the past pupils in turn were amazed to hear about life in the fully co-educational school of today!
There were two very special guests at this year's reunion; Joyce Cavadino (Mrs Jackman), who was evacuated during the war to America and Carmel Green (Mrs Monk) who hails from Canada, and was visiting relatives in Worthing. Both these two ladies had been at Sion before World War 2, Carmel Green from 1932 -1939, and Joyce Cavadino, from the mid 1930's till the beginning of the war. It was wonderful to meet them, and hear about how so much had changed in the school since their school days, although it was equally as wonderful to realise that the spirit and ethos of the school is still the same today as it was then!
