Practice Expedition June 2011

Update Spring 2011
The Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award is well into its year after the majority of the 45 eligible pupils enrolled, towards the end of 2010.  A high percentage of these pupils have started at least 2 of the 3 basic elements of Physical, Skill and Service. We are now starting to prepare for 2 Expeditions, one in June and one in July. The pupils have organised their Expedition teams and after the February half term the groups will embark on map reading and route planning sessions within their groupings. They will also be attending an evening meeting where they will learn about the kit they will need to take and have a look at where they may purchase some of it. They will also get to see their equipment provided through the school. As they get nearer to the expeditions they will put into practice what they have learnt as they do a two "short" practice walks.
