Past Pupils Reunion 2006
Past Pupils revisit Our Lady of Sion School for Reunion Tea
Pupils at Our Lady of Sion School have always been proud to feel that they are only members of the school, but that they are also part of the community of Our Lady of Sion Scholars. This special feeling of belonging was clearly shown one Sunday afternoon in September when the Past Pupils' Reunion Association held their annual meeting. Many ex-pupils came along to meet up with their old friends and reminisce about their days at Sion School. Two of the most senior ex-pupils to attend left our Lady of Sion in 1935, and as they had not met for some years, thoroughly enjoyed catching up with each other. As well as the past pupils, three of the Sisters of Sion from Avila House also attended. Sister Elise Saudan taught at Our Lady of Sion from 1961 - 1971, and was Headmistress from 1967 - 1971; Sister Pat, or Sister Scholastica as she was known, taught Geography and R.E. at the senior school, and Sister Ann was an Infirmarian in the Junior School, who helped look after the younger children when they were unwell. The current Head Boy and Head Girl, and one of the Sixth-form Prefects came to the reunion to meet the past pupils and talk to them about life at Our Lady of Sion today.
The Past Pupils Association meets once a year, on the third Sunday in September. They have an extensive collection of photos and memorabilia from Our Lady of Sion School, which they are always keen to add to. Details of the Past Pupils Association can be obtained from Nita Whitehorn, tel. 01903 872339, e-mail Nitasteereatsion@yahoo.co.uk.
