Past Pupils Reunion 2011
The Past Pupils' Association held their annual reunion on Sunday 18th September. Almost 30 past pupils, and three of the Sisters of Sion who taught at the school, attended the reunion and enjoyed meeting up with some of their old school friends. The current head girl and head boy, along with four other sixth form students gave guided tours of the school. All these present students were intrigued to learn what life at the school had been like when these past pupils had been there. Several of the 'Old Sionians' had been at the school when it was a boarding school, so were able to tell current pupils whereabouts their dormitories and their old classrooms had been. Past and current pupils were surprised to find how much was still the same, as well as how much had changed!
There was a lot of reminiscing amongst the past pupils about 'old times', especially when they were viewing the collection of old photos and memorabilia displayed in the school hall. The afternoon was rounded off with a rousing rendition of the school song, which amazed the current pupils, as it has not been used in school for some years.
Next year marks the 150th anniversary of the school, which was founded by the Sisters of Sion, on the present site, in 1862. The Past Pupils Association, are looking forward to taking part in the celebrations, and are planning their own events to mark the anniversary.
