PSCHE: Personal, social, citizenship and health education
The PSCHE curriculum feeds into many curriculum areas at Key Stage 2 and therefore much of the subject content is not delivered through specific PSCHE lessons.
The aim of the curriculum is to help children:
• value themselves and others
• allow themselves to acquire knowledge and understanding of personal relationships which will enable them to form values and establish behavior within a moral, spiritual and social framework.
• To foster in them the ability to accept and respect cultures, religions and opinions which differ from their own.
• To promote a sense of responsibility for their own well-being and that of their family and community
• To prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life

During Key Stage 2 pupils learn about themselves as growing and changing individuals with their own experiences and ideas, and as members of their communities.

They become more mature, independent and self-confident. They learn about the wider world and the interdependence of communities within it. They develop their sense of social justice and moral responsibility and begin to understand that their own choices and behaviour can affect local, national or global issues and political and social institutions. They learn to take part more fully in school and community activities.

As they begin to develop into young adults, they face the changes of puberty and transfer to secondary school with support and encouragement from their school. They learn how to make more confident and informed choices about their health and environment; to take more responsibility, individually and as a group, for their own learning; and to resist bullying.

The following topics are covered in Key Stage 2
Year 3: Relationships, Health, Community and Rules
Year 4: Keeping safe, social skills, personal growth, relationships, healthy bodies, citizenship, other cultures, environment and conservation.
Year 5: Looking after myself, the community and environment and relationships.
Year 6: Healthy eating, drug education, relationships, healthy bodies, sex education, road safety and local community issues.

Relgious Education (RE)
As a fundamentally Christian School, our Religious Education studies are based on our mission statement ”Consideration Always”. We welcome children from other faiths and endeavour to encourage all children irrespective of their faith to reach their true potential in a caring atmosphere.
In Key Stage 2 the children discover the Christian faith in greater depth. We aim to help them develop their knowledge of leading figures of other world religion by looking more closely at Judaism and Islam. In this way we are developing an awareness of the importance of the spiritual dimension in their own experience and that of other individuals.
