Aims of the Advanced Subsidiary Music Technology course:
Music Technology aims to stimulate interest and enjoyment of music through:
- Developing skills in recording and sequencing a wide range of music,
- Extending the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to communicate through music,
- Listening to, and analysing, developments in technology.
Entry requirements
Students considering this course should have a good working knowledge of ICT and a strong interest in developing recording and sequencing skills. Some ability on a keyboard is desirable and students should possess a fair understanding of notation. The course is well resourced in the school, having three dedicated MIDI/PC workstations, state of the art digital recording equipment and a full Sibelius site licence.
A Level Music Technology can lead to:
Further study: A vocational or University degree course in an increasing number of subject areas.
Career opportunities: Direct entry to studio work including sound engineering, instrument making and repair, theatre technical crew, film work, rock band crew etc.
