Junior School Admissions
Admissions to the Junior School
Years 1 and 2 - Key Stage 1
There is no entrance examination at this stage. Admission is at the discretion of the Deputy Head following the child's introductory visit and an interview with his/her parents. Prior to the offer of a place, prospective pupils are required to spend two days with us, to introduce them to the daily routine and ensure a secure and confident start in their new school. Priority for the Reception class is given to pupils who have attended Our Lady of Sion Nursery.
Years 3 to 6 - Key Stage 2
Places reserved for admission at Years 3 to 6 will not be kept vacant if another pupil requires them at an earlier stage.
Children are tested in English, Mathematics and Reasoning. Admission is at the discretion of the Deputy Head following the child's introductory visit and an interview with his/her parents. Prior to the offer of a place, prospective pupils are required to spend two days with us, to introduce them to the daily routine and ensure a secure and confident start in their new school.
General information
Should there be evidence of particular academic or behavioural needs, which cannot be accommodated within our curriculum, we will recommend an alternative environment more specifically designed to cater for such pupils' requirements. It is not feasible for us to provide specialist support for pupils with learning or behavioural difficulties.
In the unlikely event that a child displays problems not detected during his/her initial visit or does not settle into the school environment, we reserve the right to ask parents to seek an alternative school. This action would be taken only as a last resort and following at least two consultations with parents.
A non-returnable fee of £50 is payable when you register your child for admission to Our Lady of Sion School.
The school reserves the right to amend this policy.
