Charity fund-raising is an integral part of life at Our Lady of Sion School, and is part of the school's ethos of 'Considertaion always'.

The Charity fund-raising team is headed by Mr. Tilley, Head of Sixth Form, and a team of Sixth Form Charity Prefects. Each form in the school has a Charity Representative, and these representatives decide which charities their year will support.

Charity Challenge 2012
As part of our 150th Anniversary, the Senior School is launching a ‘charity challenge'.  The challenge, to every student in the Senior School, is to try to raise at least £10 as part of a charity initiative to achieve a target of £3,000. The scheme will run from February to May.

The following are just some suggestions of how students might raise funds:
• Employment by family, friends or neighbours; for example, babysitting, shopping, gardening, car washing, etc.
• Sponsorship in the usual way.
• Form activities by groups or whole forms - sales, raffles, etc.
• Direct donations. As we hope students will want to be directly involved in fund-raising this is the 'least preferred' option.

All money raised will be donated to three charities: one local, one national and one international.

As well as the above, we will be supporting Sport Relief on the 16th March by providing a charity lunch at a cost of £2.

Worthing Churches Homelss Projects
Pupils brought in gifts of food, clothing, toiletries and other items for our annual Worthing Churches Homeless projects Christmas appeal. These gifts, plus a cheque for money raised at the charity Christmas lunch, and staff donations given instead of sending Christmas cards to each other, were delivered to St Clare's Day centre on the last day of term, by Mr. Tilley and cahrity prefects. the photos shows the pupils and Mr tilley with the WCHP Communty Liaison Officer, and the WCHP Housekeeper.

Worthing Lions - Support our Troops this Christmas
Students at Our Lady of Sion School have taken part in the Worthing Lions ‘Support Our Troops’ Christmas Appeal. Pupils were asked to bring in a variety of items, ranging from toiletries and stationery, to sweets and snacks. Each class were asked to fill a shoe box and the response was absolutely fantastic.
We were also very pleased with the level of support for this year’s Royal British Legion ‘Poppy Appeal’. The Senior School raised over £150 which was considerably up on last year’s donation.
Our school motto is ‘CONSIDERATION ALWAYS’ and these two events are examples of how everyone at the school, staff and pupils alike,  try to put this ethos into practice.

Cake Sale for William's Fund
Two students in year 8 organised a charity cake sale on 23rd November, to raise money for William's Fund. William is a 3 year-old boy, who suffers from a rare metabolic condition for which there is no cure. His family are working hard to raise the money for him to have a bone marrow transplant. Megan knows this little boy through the playgroup he attends, where her mother works. She and her friend Petrina decided that they would hold a cake sale during one school lunch time to help with the family's fund-raising. They sold a mouth-watering array of cakes, made by pupils in their form at school. Almost all of the cakes were sold, and Megan and Petrina made over £115 for William's fund. More information about William and his fund can be found at http://williamsfund.blogspot.com/

Children in Need
On Friday 18th November, pupils were invited to wear home clothes, paying £1 for the Children in Need appeal for the privilege. A charity lunch of pizza, chocolate bar, crisps and a drink was on offer for £2. Over £460 was raised for Children in Need.
