Our Lady of Sion School ‘Mock General Election’ results are in!

The Students of Our Lady of Sion have spoken!

On 5th May, all Sion students from Years 6-13 were given the opportunity to vote in the school’s ‘Mock General Election’. The snap election was called earlier than the 8th June as this date would interfere with exams and study leave.

The results are:

CONSERVATIVES 113
LABOUR 20
LIBERAL DEMOCRATS 38
UKIP 32
GREEN PARTY 62

Voting was not compulsory. The total roll in Years 6-13 was 307. The total votes cast were 265. This represents a turnout of 86.3% and is a good 15 percentage points above the national average. This provides a strong indication that our students are politically aware and proactive when it comes to expressing their views.

We shall be interested to see how the school results relate to the national vote.
