Quotes from some recent Past Pupils re: 150th Anniversary
Pye (Joe) Nyunt
, who was Head Boy, 2005-06, now in Business Consultancy.
"It was with great pleasure that I attended Sion's 150th anniversary service. The sense of community spirit Sion instils lasts forever. It was wonderful to see all the students, past and present together once more. What impresses me the most is that the school is built upon the same family values, principles and morals now as it was 150 years ago. I have truly recognised what a mature outlook Sion brings to each of its students; to help them to shape their careers and to face the many challenges that life brings. For every student who is reading this now and wondering where they will be in the next 10 years or so, my message to you is this; "'Use the opportunities that Sion provides to prepare yourself today, before the adventure that tomorrow will bring. Best wishes to all students and staff and I hope to share fond memories with you all again soon."
Victoria Gibbins, who left in 2002. (Victoria was one of three sisters who went all through the school, along with sisters Natasha and Charlotte).
"Congratulations Sion on your 150th year! You played an extremely important part in my life for 16 years and I cannot express my gratitude enough to the extremely committed, encouraging and enthusiastic teachers that pushed me to achieve my goals. It was wonderful to see you all at the service - an experience that transported me back 10 years, with a thousand memories flooding back of past Founders Days, school assemblies, Festival Choir, consistently forgetting my hymn book and the belting out 'Shine Jesus Shine'. Long may you carry on the Sionian tradition - I know I will."
Georgia Brooks, who left in 2005. (She was editor of the school magazine, ‘ViSION' , went on to read Classical Civilisation at Warwick and now works in legal publishing.
"The way everyone came together really made me feel I was part of a life-long community. It was great to see so many old faces and to meet many new faces, with whom I enjoyed swapping anecdotes of our time at Sion. It was also inspiring to see so much talent in the younger generation, which is testament to the continued support and dedication of the staff. Overall, a wonderful service and a true credit to Sion's name and ethos."
